I made the unpleasant mistake of watching Marie Antoinette tonight which was a horrible idea that I am currently regretting. Although one of my favorite movies, not based on plot detail or character authenticity but simply because Sophia Coppola makes everything look beautiful and happens to have great taste in music. After about an hour of watching the movie did I have to frustratingly turn it off because I got an overwhelming craving for delicious sweet concoctions…more specifically french macaroons, madeleine cakes and custard tortes which aren’t available for me to indulge in at the moment. Instead I am currently fulfilling my sweet craving with left over Halloween candy like Milk Duds and Kit Kats which don’t have the same appeal or are even remotely close to what I desire. Apparently all the pastries from the movies were supplied by Ladurée, a luxury french pastry shop that has over two dozen french macaroon flavors and does NOT exist in Chicago. So depressing. Looks like I will be on a mission to find the perfect french macaroon this weekend in Chicago, if anyone has a suggestion please let me know!
