Check out the moody trailer for Shame starring Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan. The movie has garnered tons of buzz since its been hit with a NC-17 rating but despite the disastrous rating, critics have been raving about the film and the talented performances which has studio executives hopeful. Steve Giulia, co-head of Fox Searchlight, optimistically told The Hollywood Reporter “I think NC-17 is a badge of honor, not a scarlet letter. The sheer talent of the actors and the vision of the filmmaker are extraordinary. It’s not a film that everyone will take easily, but it certainly breaks through the clutter and is distinctive and original. It’s a game changer”. I always find myself being completely attracted to darker, emotionally riveting films that tell the story of impulsive characters who have inner demons or troubled backgrounds. The same goes for people as well, I guess I find people with problems to be more interesting or even relatable than someone who has lead an ordinary lifestyle. After all, it is your mistakes that always end up being your greatest lessons in life.
Shame hits theaters December 2nd. Don’t miss it!
